It was a historic first in London on Tuesday when Hindraf joined forces with an indigenous group from Sabah and Sarawak to lobby legislators on issues still lingering from the British colonial period in Malaysia.

Hindraf chair P Waythamoorthy and advisor N Ganesan made the case for their Hindu Rights Action Force at the House of Commons, while Sabah and Sarawak were represented by Common Interest Group Malaysia (Cigma) activists Daniel John Jambun and Nicholas Bawin Anggat.

Both Cigma and Hindraf reiterated the case that Britain had a lingering historical, legal and moral obligation towards its former subjects in its ex-colonies.

A forum have been organized to raise awareness before the House of Common in UK parliamentary by HINDRAF in partnership with Monitoring Group (UK) to address the marginalization and discrimination faced by Malaysian Indians as well as the indigenous natives in East Malaysia under the patronage of Mr Virendra Sharma, a member of Parliament in United Kingdom.

The purpose of this forum is to continue to highlight and enhance the awareness to the international arena on widespread discrimination on human rights that prevails in Malaysia on UMNO’s totalitarianism led Malaysian government against its own citizen.

Nov 25, 2007 will go down as the day the greatest demonstration was held to express the state of hopelessness the Indian Malaysians were living in independent Malaysia. It was a day to show the years of displacement and marginalisation caused by selective policies.

It was the culmination of a long journey of neglect that made the Indians more disadvantaged than others .The irony is that the bulk of Tamils who came to Malaysia under the indentured labour system of the British were from the lowest caste stratification of the Indian society.

The High Court has today struck out the RM100 million defamation suit by former ISA detainee M Manoharan, who is also Kota Alam Shah assemblyperson in Selangor.

Manoharan, a former lawyer for the outlawed Hindraf movement, was detained in December 2007 and released 18 months later on allegations that he was linked to separatist group Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka.

The DAP politician has sued the government, inspector-general of police, the attorney-general as well as three mainstream newspapers - New Straits Times, The Star and Utusan Malaysia - for alleged defamation.

High Court judge Zabariah Mohd Yusof dismissed the suit in chambers this morning after hearing submission from all parties.

It was the Malaysia’s leading Masi Magam annual festival at the Sri Singamuga Kaliamman, Teluk Bahang hindu temple in Penang on 28/2/2010 which drew some 30,000 hindu devotees from especially all over Penang, Seberang Perai, South Kedah and North Perak. Our pro tem Secretary General P.Uthayakumar, National adviser N.Ganesan, Penang state HRP leader Kalai were all at the Human Rights Party stall. The police special branch set up shop right opposite our stall pretending to sell ice water and peanuts but monitoring and video recording with hidden video cameras. (See photos of Police SB). HRP was least perturbed.

HRP aims to create Indian-majority areas

GEORGETOWN: The Human Rights Party (HRP) launched its Prai voters’ registration campaign as part of its strategy to create Indian-majority constituencies in the country.

HRP believes the Prai constituency could be the launch pad for its political quest to create at least 15 Indian-majority federal and state seats across the country.

Prai has 14,175 registered voters, including 5,074 Indians or 36 percent.

Prai comes under Batu Kawan parliamentary seat. Both seats are now being held by Penang Deputy Chief Minister 2 P Ramasamy.

HRP aims to register about 4,100 more Indians as voters to turn Prai into an Indian-majority state seat.

The HRP panthal at the Masi Magam festival announced in very visible and clear terms the emergence of HRP as the political wing of Hindraf.. The panthal team did a very good job in preparing the various paraphernalia for the event. This is going to be the hallmark of the HRP/Hindraf team – Effectiveness.

You should have seen the looks on the faces and eyes of the people who came into the panthal and in the walkabout when they met and shook hands with Uthayakumar – awe , gratitude, pride..I do not know what you can call those expressions, but one thing was very clear. The fire still burns in the hearts of these poor people and they long for a fresh new beginning in this country.

HINDRAF Rose Rally 2nd Year Remembrance Prayers was held on 16th Feb 2010 at Kottumalai Pilayar Temple @ 7.30 pm. Special guests P Uthayakumar and Manoharan Malayalam was present for the prayers. 18 Agile Villaku together with 18 roses was lighted up in a very special way by 18 Children of HINDRAF supporters to symbolize the HINDRAFs’ 18 point Demands which are yet to be fulfilled by the UMNO led Government . Roses have had meaning since the dawn time. Everyone knows that red rose is a symbol of Love and passion, whereby the yellow rose is the symbol of justice and peace.
