Everyone chides Hindraf these days but in their heyday after Nov 25, 2007
everyone looked at them from a humane perspective that is now vaporised.
After March 8, 2008, everyone settled in but then everything got political
later.
We had the dream of Sept 16, 2008 when Anwar Ibrahim failed miserably.
Then came the 'hopping frogs' from DAP and PKR that handed Perak over to
Umno. Then came the issues of Kampung Buah Pala, the courting of turncoats
in Hindraf and now the neverending disputes in Pakatan Rakyat.
Now, of course, we don't know what is going to happen as Pakatan attempts
to hold its fort through their 'mandores' but Prime Minister Najib Abdul
Razak woes the Indian Malaysians directly as he understands that the MIC

Nov 25, 2007 will go down as the day the greatest demonstration was held to express the state of hopelessness the Indian Malaysians were living in independent Malaysia. It was a day to show the years of displacement and marginalisation caused by selective policies.
It was the culmination of a long journey of neglect that made the Indians more disadvantaged than others .The irony is that the bulk of Tamils who came to Malaysia under the indentured labour system of the British were from the lowest caste stratification of the Indian society.

It was the Malaysia’s leading Masi Magam annual festival at the Sri Singamuga Kaliamman, Teluk Bahang hindu temple in Penang on 28/2/2010 which drew some 30,000 hindu devotees from especially all over Penang, Seberang Perai, South Kedah and North Perak. Our pro tem Secretary General P.Uthayakumar, National adviser N.Ganesan, Penang state HRP leader Kalai were all at the Human Rights Party stall. The police special branch set up shop right opposite our stall pretending to sell ice water and peanuts but monitoring and video recording with hidden video cameras. (See photos of Police SB). HRP was least perturbed.

GEORGETOWN: The Human Rights Party (HRP) launched its Prai voters’ registration campaign as part of its strategy to create Indian-majority constituencies in the country.
HRP believes the Prai constituency could be the launch pad for its political quest to create at least 15 Indian-majority federal and state seats across the country.
Prai has 14,175 registered voters, including 5,074 Indians or 36 percent.
Prai comes under Batu Kawan parliamentary seat. Both seats are now being held by Penang Deputy Chief Minister 2 P Ramasamy.
HRP aims to register about 4,100 more Indians as voters to turn Prai into an Indian-majority state seat.

The HRP panthal at the Masi Magam festival announced in very visible and clear terms the emergence of HRP as the political wing of Hindraf.. The panthal team did a very good job in preparing the various paraphernalia for the event. This is going to be the hallmark of the HRP/Hindraf team – Effectiveness.
You should have seen the looks on the faces and eyes of the people who came into the panthal and in the walkabout when they met and shook hands with Uthayakumar – awe , gratitude, pride..I do not know what you can call those expressions, but one thing was very clear. The fire still burns in the hearts of these poor people and they long for a fresh new beginning in this country.

After the March 8, 2008 battle, everyone settled in but then everything got political minus the root issues that faced the community. We had the dream of September 16, 2008 where Anwar failed miserably, then the hopping frogs in DAP and PKR that handed UMNO Perak, the issue of Kg Buah Pala, the courting of turncoats in HINDRAF and then neverending disputes in Pakatan Rakyat.

One little boy was brought to our attention in our Panthal that he had lost his mum in the din of things. Gokulan as he told us, was in Std four, but still little. He looked bewildered when I first set eyes on him, but soon after we had contacted his father using the handphone number Gokulan gave us, he settled down with a little more confidence, to wait for his father to come and pick him up. His father showed up about an hour later and he told us how grateful he was. My response to him was that we do not need to be thanked , what we were doing on the larger plane as Hindraf made it our duty to take care of every little aspect of the future we were all struggling for – his son included.

Amidst the various unfounded and malicious allegations, HINDRAF is publishing its accounts to the public for their scrutiny.
Hindraf was formed in December 2005 and it only came to limelight in August 2007 after I had filed a class action against the UK Government on Malaysia’s 50th Anniversary independence celebration on August 30th 2007 in pursuit of the systematic marginalized state of the Malaysian Indians.
The accounts prepared by an independent Public Accounting firm regulated in Malaysia for the funds that were collected is attached herewith The full accounts are also available at our website at www.hindraf.org, www.makkal.org, www.humanrightspartymalaysia.com and www.hindraf4you.blogspot.com.
A brief run down on the accounts are as follows -

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The sedition trial of lawyer P.
Uthayakumar was almost derailed Wednesday after his lawyers told the
Sessions Court that they were going to make a second application to recuse
her.
However, Uthayakumar decided to drop his intention and allowed his counselto cross-examine the first prosecution witness, former deputy Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Acryl Sani, after judge Sabariah Othman reminded the lawyer that his first application for recusal was still pending at the Court of Appeal.
A heated argument between Uthayakumar and Sabariah erupted after
Uthayakumar accused the judge of acting on instruction to convict and
sentence him to prison.
Uthayakumar launched his attacks on Sabariah after she told him that it

In the last three parts I have discussed the meaning of the term ‘Marginalization’, gave a concrete example in the life of Mariappan, discussed the basic historical events and the different ways in which unequal rights and unequal opportunities lead to economic marginalization.
In this part I am going to show how it is the specific policies of and conscious neglect ,wrapped up in a package of deceit, by the UMNO led Government that is at the root of this endemic and chronic economic marginalization of the Indians.
The UMNO strategies that created the problem.

The Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) will file a formal charge against forensics expert Dr Abdul Karim Tajudin of Hospital Serdang who conducted the first post-mortem on deceased police detainee A Kugan.
Lawyer N Surendran, who is representing Kugan's family, told Malaysiakini that the MMC held an inquiry yesterday and cross-examined the deceased's mother M Indra (left) on the complaint against Abdul Karim for professional misconduct.
"They felt that there was substance in the complaint and decided to file a formal charge against him," he said.

The direct causes of economic marginalization.
Unequal rights and unequal opportunities in the Name of NEP
In the last two parts I have discussed the meaning of the term ‘Marginalization’, its various manifestations, gave a concrete example of this marginalization process in the life of Mariappan and discussed the basic historical events that led to it. In this part I am going to talk about the five different ways in which the direct causes of economic marginalization - unequal rights and unequal opportunities contribute to economic marginalization.
A quick recap of the term economic marginalization: - Economically marginalized is
to be denied opportunities for participating productively in the economic development of the nation,

It is one thing to come up with a document like the Common Policy Frame (CPF) , it is another thing to realize it in practice. What really matters to the people is whether all the leaders of Pakatan Rakyat coalition really understand themselves, what is contained in that document with all its implications, and whether they really mean all of that.
Let me first first quote from Dato Zaid Ibrahim’s speech
“Pakatan rejects policies that allow for corruption and other financial crimes and abuse of power. In order to ensure sustainable growth, oppressive policies that had only enriched the few should be replaced with a policy that ensures that the poor are assisted regardless of race.”

Who is a Mandore?
Historically, a Mandore was a supervisor in the rubber estates, whose role was to ensure the estate bosses got their work done by the Indian rubber tapper – the daily paid wage workers. Besides just supervising to get the job done these Mandores also had the role of goading the workers on, on unpopular policies. They resorted to manipulation, force and deceit, in many cases to do this. Then, when dissatisfaction brewed and the workers began to speak out they also played the role of the spy for the master – telling on trouble makers. In many of these situations they connived with their masters because of their understanding of the nuances of the tappers lives and communities.

When the Police, the Political parties, the Courts all gang up against you when your rights are being taken away systematically from you, what do you do? When Politicians regardless of their hue or colour resort to manipulation and threats to carry out the usurpation of your rights what do you do? When the supposedly opposition parties, opportunistically work with the same police and courts that they themselves are having trouble with, attack and prevent the poor and marginalized from realising their rights what do you do?
What do you do?
What does one do?
I think the inevitable is about to happen, if it is not already happening.
Read on.
