PRESS RELEASE – Hindraf & East Malaysia natives at House of Common UK on March 9, 2010

A forum have been organized to raise awareness before the House of Common in UK parliamentary by HINDRAF in partnership with Monitoring Group (UK) to address the marginalization and discrimination faced by Malaysian Indians as well as the indigenous natives in East Malaysia under the patronage of Mr Virendra Sharma, a member of Parliament in United Kingdom.

The purpose of this forum is to continue to highlight and enhance the awareness to the international arena on widespread discrimination on human rights that prevails in Malaysia on UMNO’s totalitarianism led Malaysian government against its own citizen.

Press statement – Malaysian Indian and modern day slavery at the hands of UMNO.

The latest custodial death toll of the Malaysian Indian just moved a notch up with the death of P. Babu in Jempol. The endless death in police custody of the Malaysian Indian has no boundary for the unfounded power that the PDRM wield under the UMNO led government.

Imagine? P.Babu, a young orphan, attended willfully for an enquiry and he ends up beinf murdered in police custody.

PRESS STATEMENT 10th JANUARY 2010.

CANDLE VIGIL TO PROTEST AGAINST STATE SPONSORED ARSON.

Hindraf condemns the recent torching of the churches in Malaysia by the incitement of the politically motivated UMNO led government.

GOPIO’s Letter to Malaysia’s PM Regarding Malaysian Indians

February 22, 2008

Hon. Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
Prime Minister of Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia

Sub: Malaysians of Indian origin

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
Indians were brought to Malaysia during the British rule to work on rubber plantations, and since then, they have been contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of Malaysia. Today, there are two million Malaysians of Indian Origin who constitute about eight percent of your country’s population. But these Malaysians of Indian Origin lack fair and equal treatment in educational resources and job opportunities. Consequently, a significant number of them work as plantation and/or urban underpaid laborers, and hence majority of them are poor and continue to face undue social and economic hardships.

P. Uthayakumar’s “ethnic cleansing” trial (26/10/2009). UMNO and A.G refuse to reveal Kg. Medan “secret” documents.

Posted on 26 October 2009

This morning at 9.10 a.m the “bioused Sessions Court Judge” (despite being informed that the Court of Appeal has fixed the 2nd day of November 2009 to hear P. Uthayakumar’s application to recuse her (“bioused Judge”) from further hearing this criminal trial, this Judge once again insisted in proceeding. She delivered her decision that the one page document tendered by the Prosecution of an Indian youth who allegedly was killed on the 25th November 2007 Hindraf peaceful Rally was admissible.

HINDRAF – PAKATAN PLAYING TRUANT WITH MALAYSIAN INDIANS

The ability of MPSA in their demolition of Mathurai Veeran Temple in Persiaran Kerjaya, Jalan Glenmarie, Seksyen U1, Shah Alam clearly shows the truancy of Pakatan coalition in disregarding the Malaysian Indians need.

The UMNO led coalition had failed the Malaysian Indians miserably either directly or through their mandores for the last 52 years and purely on that basis the Malaysian Indians voted en-block for the Pakatan throughout the country.

Besides hoping to be uplifted from marginalization and discrimination, the ability for Pakatan to ensure that “every person has the right to profess and practice his own religion” as stated in article 11 of the Federal constitution was one of the major consideration.

Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia is not HINDRAF

There seems to be convoluted agenda to draw simiarility on Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia (PMSM) to HINDRAF.

PMSM is headed by one Thanethiran, formerly a coordinator for the HINDRAF movement briefly during the height when HINDRAF leaders were in ISA and in exile. There is a clear distinction between the objectives of both organization as one is political and the other a NGO.

PMSM of course being a political party has chosen itself to align to BN for their speedy registration as a political party but HINDRAF remains an "illegal" non partisan NGO with its sole objective to voice the truth and question any political power whether it is BN or PR for the voiceless and defenceless society.

HINDRAF challenges LGE for a televised lived debate on Kg Buah Pala issue.

HINDRAF believes that the opposition party that it had supported during the GE12 had not lived up to the expectation of the public at least in the Kg Buah Pala Issue.

HINDRAF is not looking for a political solution but a people’s solution to live in harmony without the spin and propaganda that have outlived our community for fear and favor.

LGE has his state machineries, media and the political power at his disposal whereas HINDRAF has only its conscience and truth on its side for the people.

Hindraf’s interpretation of the Malaysian Political reality

I refer to Ken Gan’s article in the Malaysin Mirror reproduced in Malaysia today of the 22nd of Sept 2009 titled ‘The Indian dilemma and Hindraf’.

He adds nothing new to our understanding in Malaysian politics from his article. He just repeats what is already a common refrain from the DAP/PR viewpoint. "Hindraf did not cause the tsunami of the 12th GE, Indians cannot get anywhere by engaging in monoethnic politics, the young PR state governments cannot do much, so it is unfair for Hindraf to bark up that tree, there are more Indian reps in the legislatures now than before, KBP fiasco was not a result of a Chinese government being unjust to the Indians, the key to solving the Indian problem is by need based affirmative action, not race based actions."

Hishamuddin Hussein a fascist Home Minister.

HINDRAF is not surprised that the Home Minister is in full support of
the group that paraded in public carrying a severed cow’s head and
issuing seditious statements to incite and inflame racial discord.

The Home minister condones to the residents’ action and rather plays
politics by passing the buck to the Selangor government for their
inability to resolve this matter.

Quote “If we don't give them room to voice their opinions, they have
no choice but to protest” he says.

HINDRAF have been voicing and sending thousands of memorandums to the
UMNO led BN government for resolutions, yet when we conduct peaceful
rallies carrying posters, flowers and candles, our supporters are
assaulted, charged and even detained under ISA.

Press Statement – UMNO stirring the racial pot in Seksyen 23 – Shah Alam

HINDRAF condemns the latest incident involving the act of placing a severed
cow’s head outside the gates of the state secretariat building in Selangor.

HINDRAF believes UMNO and their cohorts in the Royal Police Force (PDRM) organized this act that is inflammatory with an intention to incite and create racial hatred and feelings between the Muslims and Hindus.

These perpetrators were able to walk over 300 metres in open public
and conduct their seditious speeches calling openly for bloodshed, and racial chaos without any interference from the police force. So far nothing has been done by the PDRM or the AG’s department other than issuing lip service statements.

Selangor Police chief Khalid Abu Bakar states “If a report is lodged,

HINDRAF - Executives have failed; Will judiciary save Kg Buah Pala?

The Penang executives have definitely failed in their attempt to
protect Kg Buah Pala by their failure to use operations of laws that
are enacted through legislative.

It is a failure because, they have many option to exercise various
forms of acts right from stopping the transfer, investigating the
fraudulent transaction, and of course using certain power mandated by
the legislative but all to no avail. The only answer that the
executives could come up with it is the fault of the previous state
government and they can’t do anything more.

Instead of pursuing lawful attempts which are readily available to
remedy the wrongdoings that has befallen the residents, the executives
ran a ‘soap opera’ trying so hard to depict and establish the

Malaysia: Drop Sedition Charges Against Parliamentarian

Repeal Sedition Act, Used as Political Weapon

(New York, August 10, 2009) – Malaysia’s attorney general should immediately drop politically motivated sedition charges against Karpal Singh, a prominent lawyer and opposition member of parliament, Human Rights Watch said today. His trial is to begin on August 12, 2009. Human Rights Watch also urged the government to repeal without delay the colonial-era Sedition Act 1948, long used selectively against the government’s political opponents.

PICKET IN LONDON-UNITE IN SOLIDARITY TO SUPPORT PRESERVATION OF KG BUAH PALA PENANG

Dear HINDRAF UK Supporters,

Many of you may by now be aware of the plight of our sisters and brothers in the Kg. Buah Pala saga which face the danger of demolition by the capitalist developers supported by the Penang State Government led by the DAP.

HINDRAF will join hands with GMI for the Abolish ISA protest on 1.8.09

HINDRAF has been campaigning for the abolishment of ISA since the incarceration of the HINDRAF 5 – prisoners of conscience for 514 days.

Since the day one we are against this arbitrary Draconian Act that gives the Minister unfettered power under disguise against basic humanity that is protected by our constitution. HINDRAF had initiated countless demonstration and had faced unfair and unjust treatment from the police and government in pursuing the truth. We had carried out prayers, candle vigils, car convoy, hunger strike, handing over of memorandums and endless street demonstration urging the government to abolish ISA. Many of HINDRAF supporters also got arrested in the past for this good cause for all Malaysians.

HINDRAF - Press Statement 17/07/2009

HINDRAF – IS MACC another PDRM in making?

HINDRAF is appalled at the death of the young Malaysian Teoh Beng Hock while being in custody of the MACC.

Is it rather unorthodox and unbecoming that a witness needs to be interrogated from 5pm to 3.45 am. He is only a witness not a suspect. UMNO led BN seems to have added another public institution ie the MACC as the public’s tormentor along side the PDRM. The sole responsible of the Anti Corruption agency is to investigate and procure evidence, not to act as the executor.

HINDRAF condemns MACC for its ruthlessness towards innocent Malaysian citizens under the protection of the Machiavellian UMNO led government to protect their own nepotism, cronyism and corrupt practice against public interest and benefit.

LIM GUAN ENG IS A BLATANT LIAR

I refer to the Statement of Penang Chief Minister on Malaysiakini today throwing various wild allegations against Hindraf .

I wish to reply as follows:

He has lied and mislead the Malaysian public that Hindraf had "lied"that acquiring Kg.Buah Pala would cost the State Government RM 30 Million.

He further misleads in his statement implying that Hindraf had represented that the State Government could acquire the Kg below the market value.

The above statements by Lim Guan Eng is an absolute and blatant lie deliberately calculated to mislead the Malaysian public and divert from the real issue staring at him.

It was his own Political Secretary that had issued a statement yesterday (malaysiakini) that it would cost the state RM30 million to compensate the developers.

Vwaishhnnavi Waytha Moorthy would be presenting an urgent appeal to the Penang Chief Minister to intervene and protect the poor and defenceless Indian Families in Kg. Buah Pala.

Vwaishhnnavi represents the future generation and is taking the bold step to HUMBLY APPEAL to the DAP that they should not destroy and be part of the destruction of the heritage which is very meaningful to the Malaysian Indians.
